ARCP stands for “Annual Review of Competence Progression”. The purpose of the ARCP is to check whether the trainee is progressing through his or her training satisfactorily and at the appropriate time make a recommendation to the responsible officer on the trainee's revalidation. It is important that panel members are up to date with current requirements, since their decision determines whether the trainee is able to progress through their training programme and whether they meet the standards expected by the RCGP in relation to independent practice at the end of the programme. This session provides an outline of the evidence required by the panel and the different possible outcomes which can be awarded.
