Ovarian cancer still has the worst prognosis of all the gynaecological cancers, with a one year survival rate of 72% and a five year survival rate of 43%. However, contrary to popular belief, it is NOT a silent killer—most women are symptomatic, regardless of the stage at which they are diagnosed. This course covers the presentation and diagnosis of ovarian cancer in primary care through the use of case studies. GPs undertaking this module should become more confident in deciding when to assess women with bloating and other abdominal symptoms for ovarian cancer. This course is FREE to all healthcare professionals in the UK. This course was developed in partnership with Target Ovarian Cancer. |
