Body scan with red heart

This course aims to update GPs on the prevention and management of cardiovascular disease. It uses case studies to review the impact of cardiovascular disease (CVD) on patients in the United Kingdom and suggest evidence-based strategies to reduce cardiovascular (CV) risk. New data will be discussed which is likely to increase the use of anticoagulation in patients with CVD and the course will also consider the assessment of the risks and benefits of treatment in patients who are elderly, frail or have multiple co-morbidities. The main references for the course will be the NICE guidelines on established cardiovascular diseases and risk factor management. This course falls within the Cardiovascular Health and Metabolic Problems and Endocrinology curriculum fields.

The course was developed and content created collaboratively in partnership with MDBriefCase. An educational grant was provided with financial support from Bayer.
