Microbiome

This half-hour course is designed to introduce users to the topic of the gut microbiome, including what the gut microbiome is, what it does, and what influences it. The course will describe the changes that occur over the lifespan of a patient, and with disease, as well as the ways in which the microbiome can be affected by diet, lifestyle and supplements, and the future of other therapeutic interventions.

This course has a focus on the gut microbiome; there are many other systems that have a microbiome in humans – for example the nasopharynx, bladder, and skin - discussion of these areas is related to but outside the scope of this module.

An educational grant was received by Symprove for the production of this course. Editorial and content decisions were made solely by the RCGP.
