Healthcare
inequalities are unfair and avoidable differences in health across the
population, and within different groups in society.
The
NHS Long Term plan has the reduction of health inequalities at its core, and it
is one of the College’s
strategic priorities. We want every patient across the UK to be able to
receive the best care possible, despite their circumstances, background, or
characteristics, and to ensure that general practice, as an anchor institution
within communities, can continue to champion the reduction of these
inequalities. To this end, we are committed to supporting you – GPs and the
wider healthcare team; you play a pivotal role in addressing health
inequalities as firsthand witnesses of the health and social issues experienced
by socioeconomically-deprived communities.
The
health inequalities hub has been written by GPs who understand the pressures
you face. It contains a variety of learning resources from eLearning modules to
podcasts you can listen to on-the-go, and recordings you can catch up on.
There are toolkits, frameworks and even a short ‘what you need to know in 10
clicks’ summary.
The
health inequalities hub and eLearning courses are free to access for
any healthcare professional and non-RCGP members in the UK.
