With mental health problems affecting 25% of the population each year, the assessment of suicide risk is a common part of general practice.
This course gives a useful background on the problem of suicide, including the demographics of those most affected and the prevention strategies adopted by the four home nations. In the second lesson, the approach to assessing suicide risk and useful interventions are presented, using a case-based approach.
Signposting to a wealth of resources is offered, including further practical training in suicide prevention interventions.
The course is FREE to RCGP Members and available for purchase by other healthcare professionals.
