TARGET tools to train prescribers
The following free tools are intended to be used to deliver training for prescribers and aim to provide up to date information and an evidence base to support optimal antibiotic prescribing. They will also help prescribers to meet Continuing Professional
Development (CPD) and revalidation requirements. For resources for your personal learning, visit the Learning Resources for Prescribers website section.

TARGET antibiotic toolkit training resources
TARGET antibiotic training workshops consist of a set of core slides, at least one clinical scenario and action planning.
The TARGET core slides form the main part of the TARGET workshop and include presenter notes under each slide. This core presentation template has been produced to assist educators in primary care settings to present the most up-to-date evidence around “why” optimising antibiotic prescribing is important and “how” this can be achieved. The training is designed to be delivered by accredited TARGET trainers and must be edited to suit local audiences. The core training slides must be accompanied by one or two interactive clinical scenarios that are relevant to the season or local antibiotic prescribing rates.
Attendees of the TARGET antibiotic training workshop will receive a certificate of attendance upon completion of a post-workshop survey that counts towards your Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
Videos alongside the clinical scenarios below show the training being delivered by Dr Philippa Moore, Consultant Microbiologist at Gloucester Royal Hospital.
